One of the first activities we will do in class is an interest survey, as a way to help me get to know you. I think it is only fair that I list my own answers, so you can get to know me too. To get to know the class, click here for a copy of our policies!
1. I like to read mysteries, mainly by Nevada Barr and JA Jance.
2. I don't receive an actual newspaper at home. I typically just read the news headlines on CNN.com etc. Sometimes, I will also watch the news on TV.
3. I like to read People and O magazines, especially on a plane.
4. I enjoy watching M*A*S*H*, news magazine shows (20/20, Dateline, 48 Hours Mystery etc) and anything dealing with forensic science.
5. My favorite class in high school was yearbook. But, I liked Spanish too. It was actually my own high school Spanish teacher who encouraged me to become a teacher.
6. My least favorite class in high school was probably chemistry because I was a senior and had senioritis.
7. When I have free time at home, I like to watch TV, read, go for walks and hang out with my friends. At school, I like to visit with other teachers and try to organize my classroom.
8. I would like to talk to President Obama. I can't imagine being the president during a war, recession and environmental crisis all at once.
9. I would like to talk with Evita Peron from Argentina because I am intrigued with her role in her country's development. (I actually got to go to Buenos Aires four summers ago, and it was amazing!)
10. I guess baking, if that is considered a hobby. I like learning new things about how technology can "improve" my life, and I love to travel too.
11. Well, if I weren't a teacher, I would like to work for the FBI or CIA or be a flight attendant and travel the world for free.
12. This year, I will be taking classes to learn how to be a better teacher.
13. War, homelessness, hunger, people without jobs, and kids who drop out of school all concern me.
14. I would write a book about my students and the funny things they say and do!
15. I would like to become an expert in web design/blogging/Web 2.0 in the classroom.
16. I would like to visit North Carolina/the Outer Banks.
17. If I lived on another planet, I would have to bring my DVD player, books, iPod, my husband, Dr. Pepper, garlic bread, lasagna, gum, snickers bars, clothes.
18. What fruit best describes your personality? (Mine: grapes--sometimes sweet, sometimes sour. Sometimes you just have bad days!)
The Daily Agenda is the MOST IMPORTANT PART of our class page. It allows you to follow what we did in class and what was assigned, even when you are absent. I expect you to refer to it often, so bookmark it now!
